the good

your grandmother said the funniest thing yesterday -- my mom told me on the phone last night -- i was buttoning up her shirt when suddenly she blinked and said, "life is good. mostly." i figure if she's that sentient she can't be too bad off.

so today, the good -- mostly.

  • small red things
  • hill repeats on a healed hamstring
  • dropping 6sec from your 200yd free
  • inspiration
  • fresh bluefish pulled from the ocean last weekend
  • dreams of an acura
  • knowing you're not alone
what's your Good this friday?

[sigh] Today's a Saturday and Diwali to boot, and I'm really missing my mom's homemade delicacies. (Diwali is the Indian festival of lights.)

On the bright side, all of us are bunking our work shifts today! W00T!

Adam - YAY for the Pentax! I'm an analogue gal myself - shelled out 18,500/- for my precious Nikon F55 film SLR (+ a 300 mm zoom lens) about 2 years ago. I get to indulge in some fantastic nature photography! It breaks my heart to think of having to sell it if I ever go broke. Digicams are quick n' easy but you can't beat film, I say.

subhangi!

My Pentax was only a $10 eBay purchase but it is great fun! Results of the first film are great.

I also have a 20 year old Yashica SLR, a Praktica SLR, an Olympus XA2, a Ricoh rangefinder and my digital Canon.

Can we see any of your photos anywhere? It sounds great!

Adam -

Unfortunately, my photographs are at home with my parents. But I'll be going there this November, and then you can see them!

happy diwali, subhangi! are your hands henna'd? did you get home yesterday to enjoy your mum's cooking?

adam, you cannot NOT offer up the details of the security camera assault. it seems creative hooliganism runs in the family.

Thanks Finn - but I'll be going home only on November 4th! Hopefully then I'll get my hands hennaed ...

finn.

no more details of the insane security camera episode, sorry. lips are sealed. the lad was expelled from school. caused great distress to his mother. was lucky to find another school that would have him. starts there tomorrow, on probation.

well good luck to him, and i hope this incident becomes just a funny family story 10 years hence.

must be such a relief to be the *grand*dad in this case.
