Weird! I just sent that photo to one of the cat lovin' sisters this very morning, and the corgi with the peanut butter to the Paramour (I won't tell you why).
But what ho, I have some numbers of my own to try out on you.
Gym today, 10k run, 1 hour 12 minutes, heart 171 (surely a stroke waiting to happen)
How in the name of shit stained hockey short amd I to shave off those 12 mins?
Although I am not exactly feeling my very best, lungs not quite what they should be, still full of green.
Do you think it is even possible by the 15th?

sure it's possible, and doable. just latch onto sonia's hockey shorts.

or, you could dabble in intervals. pick your race-pace -- say, 6min per K -- and do intervals of 400-800m *at that pace* (not faster) to acclimate your body to running at that speed. give yourself enough time to recover between intervals, and (the theory goes anyway) by the time the race comes round (in two weeks -- eeeee hello poo!) you'll be all dialed into that pace.

did you send the cat lovin' sis the glock, too?? i'm guessing no.

You guessed correct. They would not be 'ameowsed'. Och, kill me now, I feel so dirty.

Wait now, what do you mean intervals? Like, do you mena run a K at 6mins, every other day, or once, take a break, wander about gym, and then do it again? I'm so confused. Oh and what might the fledgling runner eat the morning of her race? Speed? Meth?

this might be your workout for the 1st time you do intervals:

warm up for ~10min
run 1K in 6min
jog easy for 3min
run 1K in 6min
jog easy for 3min
run 1K in 6min
jog easy for 3min
run 1K in 6min
cool down for ~10min

if 3min isn't enough recovery to get your heart-rate back down to normal, take more time, up to 6min.

make sense? guinness is a good recovery aid too. chock full of B vitamins.

fledgling runner should eat whatever she can stomach the morning of the race, ideally more than a piece of toast shared with suppliant pets, ideally high in carbs with some protein. everyone's different, so find what works for you and go with it.
